What are some things commonly shared between the head and the heart? Medically speaking, we can say blood, nerves, oxygen, etc. However, as a Christian, our heads and hearts share Jesus.
Before my kids go to bed, I usually pray with them and ask that Jesus may be in their heads and in their hearts the following day. What I mean is that they would have Jesus in their heads to direct their thoughts and help them make the right decisions and act like a follower of Christ. The heart is the place where the fruits of God's spirit are cultivated (Galations 5:22): love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Sharing Jesus in your heart is sprinkling or showering these fruits on others during the day.
In Jeremiah 31:33-34, God talks through Jeremiah about the new convenant that Jesus will establish through his death and resurrection and the sending of the Holy Spirit to every Christian head and heart:
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the LORD. I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.
May the teachings of Jesus hold a prominent and permanent residence in your head and may the Holy Spirit's engraving not fade from the tablet of your heart. Our relationship with Almighty God is dependent upon the contents of these two inward parts of our bodies.
